Coming soon to Summerlin: Dave & Buster’s

D&B2LV

Dave & Busters is finally opening their first location in Nevada, and it sounds like it will be fairly massive. Located at 2130 Park Center Drive, in the “Downtown Summerlin” outdoor mall, this D&B will clock in at almost 34,000 square feet of dining & gaming. Construction estimates alone are a shade over $3 million, and that’s before the price of arcade machines. While I am personally not a fan of these big “eat & play” places, it is nice to see this chain finally expand into town after many years.

Game Nest to hold a DDR tournament March 20th

Lace up your shoes and bring your best moves, because on March 20th at 5pm Game Nest will be holding a Dance Dance Revolution tournament. Game Nest will be holding this event using an older DDR Extreme machine. Tournament check in opens at 5pm, with the tournament start expected at 6pm. Registration will be $12 dollars, $7 goes to the venue and will grant the entrant a day pass to the arcade, with the remaining $5 going to the tournament prize pool. Payouts will go to the top three finishers, with a 60/30/10 percent pool split.

A random song will be chosen to determine seeding in the qualification round, and the tournament itself will be a 1v1 double elimination bracket. This means first round losers will have a second chance to advance to the finals via the losers bracket. All rounds except the final will be in a best 2 out of 3 format, with the final round being best 3 out of 5. All songs are available, at expert level and challenge mode.

It’s unknown if there will be a freestyle competition, but odds are that this will be score attack only.

For more information, please visit their Facebook event page.

DrumMania now at Press Start Gaming

Gemini Arcade’s old DrumMania machine has finally made its way to Press Start Gaming, setup next to the Guitar Freaks game. The price per play is currently unknown, but what is known is that it is networked with Guitar Freaks.

Wangan Midnight 5 (or 5DX) to be released in 2016

Bandai Namco is expecting to release the tenth arcade version of the Wangan Midnight series this spring in the United States, though what version will grace our arcade centers remains to be seen. Wangan Midnight 5 came out in late 2013, and so has had plenty of time to get a full translation into English. That said, the new 5DX has been launched with an “international version” that already comes with English language support. Bandai Namco will be at the upcoming 2016 AMOA Amusement Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center, so odds are we’ll find out next month what it will be.

Either way, I am SUPER excited, because I am a pretty big racing fan and these games really scratch that itch.

Bandai Namco was nice enough to give visitors to their Youtube page a sneak peek at some of the songs for Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5DX. Have a listen!
